Liver Disease

Liver disease is a common issue treated at GastroCare L.I. Whether you are suffering from one of the varying forms of hepatitis, non alcoholic fatty liver or cirrhosis of the liver, we can help put together a treatment plan for you.

If you are experiencing any of the following symptoms, then you could be suffering from liver disease (it’s also important to note that some forms of hepatitis, as well as fatty liver disease often present no symptoms):

  • Chronic fatigue
  • Loss of appetite
  • Itching
  • Abnormal stool
  • Swelling in the ankles or legs
  • Yellowing of the eyes

While the above symptoms are not enough to give a definitive diagnosis of liver disease, they are serious issues that should prompt you to consult with a gastroenterologist.

What are the treatment options for liver disease?

Treatment can vary widely depending on what specific disease you are diagnosed with. Without first evaluating you and giving you a definitive diagnosis, it is very difficult to give a scope of treatment.

Some of the common treatments for different types of liver disease include:

  • Lifestyle adjustments (stopping the consumption of alcohol and going on a healthy diet)
  • Viral medications
  • Liver transplant (in serious cases)
